Therapeutic modalities often used:
-Acceptance and Commitment therapy, parts work, somatic approaches, as well as the brain-based therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), are evidence-based methods that I have found most helpful when supporting clients with anxiety.
-Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) can help in allowing challenging thoughts, sensations, and emotions to be present, while focusing on a commitment to your personal values
-Somatic therapy invites people to reconnect with their bodies, recognizing that trauma and anxiety do not solely reside in the mind, but in the body as well. Through mindfulness techniques, breathwork, and movement, we can release stored tension and trauma, facilitating a deeper sense of safety and presence in our bodies.
-Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) is a clinically proven therapeutic approach that can help with a variety of issues such as trauma, anxiety, and depression. EMDR facilitates the reprocessing of distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation- typically through guided eye movements. This technique helps to integrate traumatic memories in a way the reduces their emotional charge and associated anxiety.
It can feel like an overwhelming and isolating experience to deal with anxiety on a regular basis. You may have struggled with anxiety throughout your life, or this may be a newer issue that you are hoping to get support with. Maybe you get anxious in certain situations, or perhaps this is more of a generalized issue and it’s hard to pinpoint why exactly you feel this way or what may be causing it.
No matter what the circumstances are, they brought you here. It takes immense strength to show up for yourself and to be willing to change your relationship with anxiety.
